Saturday 26 May - Watercolour Portraits,
studio based workshop.
Develop a better understanding of scale, proportion and anatomy to enable you to capture a ‘likeness’ in watercolour.
Working from photographs, you will explore various techniques for painting, drawing, and colour mixing.
Thursday 31 May - White on White,studio based workshop.
Master the art ofpainting white objects, flowers, birds, animals or snow scenes in watercolour.
Topics covered – Techniques for preserving the white paper, using shadows and shifting tonal values to describe form, colour mixing for subtle neutrals and greys. Develop hard and soft edge painting techniques, and finding the‘colour’ in white objects.
Thursday 7 June - Watercolour Animals,studio based workshop. From shaggy dogs, to farm animals, capture the essence of the animal in a loose lively, wet on wet watercolour style.Topics covered – Capturing the essence, eyes, nose and ears. Blocking shapes to aid drawing. What to draw and what to leave out, drawing for painting. Spray and splatter painting techniques.
Thursday 14 June - Ancient Buildings, Monuments and Ruins
(Textural Watercolour)studio based workshop. Working from photographs – you will explore a variety of techniques to paint atmospheric ancient buildings, monuments and ruins. You will experiment with various materials including collage and texture paste to hint at the passage of time and create a painting with mood and mystery.
One day watercolour workshops will run from 10.00 – 4.00 There will be demos, hints, tips and practical support throughout the day.Lunch and refreshments provided ……………..Cost £35.00
Drawing and Pastel Workshops
Thursday 21 June - Head, Hands and Feet,
Pencil Drawing,studio based workshop
Working from photographs or your own hands and feet, get to grips with the tricky bits. Topics covered – Simplifying shapes, scale and proportion, anatomy, foreshortening, drawing as a preparation to painting.
Saturday 23 June - Garden Landscapes in Chalk pastel
Astudio and garden based workshop.
Working from observation (weather permitting) or photographs – you will explore a variety of techniques to paint an atmospheric garden landscape.
Topics covered – Composition, colour blending and pastel painting techniques
One day pastel and drawing workshops will run from 10.00 – 4.00 There will be demos, hints, tips and practical support throughout the day.

Thursday 28 June - Stained Glass Inspirations
Garden Themes,studio and garden based workshop.
Using contemporary stained glass as an inspiration, develop a vibrant and colourful pen and watercolour painting.
Topics covered - wet into wet watercolour techniques, form and function of pattern and line.
Create a truly original painting and master various wet into wet techniques on bit sized areas.
Thursday 19 July - Pattern and Design
Seaside or Garden Theme,studio and garden based workshop.
Topics covered - Pen and wash techniques, wash and draw techniques, scale and proportion, imaginative use of pattern. Create a truly original painting or use this technique to develop images for embroidery, card making or print making.
One day Pen and wash workshops will run from 10.00 – 4.00 There will be demos, hints, tips and practical support throughout the day.

Thursday 26 July - Painting Animals in Acrylic,
studio based workshop.
Fromshaggy dogs, to farm animals, capture theessence of the animal in bold acrylic painting style.
Topics covered – Capturing the essence, eyes, nose and ears and mouth, blocking shapes to aid drawing, colour mixing and mark making techniques.
Monday 30 July - Flirting with Abstraction
Garden Themes, studio and garden based workshop.
Free yourself from the chains of representation and explore colour, texture and mark making to express your mood and emotion in a semi- abstract canvas.
A variety of drawing exercises will be used to help you gain a better understanding of abstract works and free your creativity before completing your own semi abstract canvas.
Thursday 2 August - Hills and Dales
A studio based workshop.
Working from photographs and using a bold acrylic painting technique you will paint a canvas describing the rolling countryside of the dales.
Topics covered – Composition, colour mixing, mark making and describing distant features.
One day Acrylic Workshops will run from 10.00 – 4.00
There will be demos, hints, tips and practical support throughout the day.
